APPROVED: NS Aquaculture Review Board issues first ever decision on a net-pen fish farm

THE AQUACULTURE REVIEW BOARD DECISION ON THE RATTLING BEACH HEARING: The application of Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd. for an amendment to the boundary of lease of AQ #1039 is allowed.

FROM THE NSARB 2021-001:

RE: Application by Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd. for a boundary amendment to marine finfish licence and lease AQ#1039 in Annapolis Basin, Digby County

The Board is satisfied that there will be no negative, or any, impact of this amendment

on any of the eight statutory conditions. As noted, to apply the conditions to a lease

amendment which is in effect, re-drawing a line on the water, is a difficult fit. It has generated

an enormous amount of material, which would be relevant to a case involving new activity.

The application of Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd. for an amendment to the boundary of lease AQ#1039 is allowed.

DATED at Halifax, Nova Scotia this 28th day of January , 2022

Stay tuned for an announcement on the rescheduled MEDIA BRIEFING hosted by Ecology Action Centre and Healthy Bays Network for a break down of what this decision means going forward.
